From Sarah Dunster, author of The Lightning Tree, comes Mile 21!
Abish's husband died suddenly just seven months after their marriage, so she's allowed to be a little crazy and mixed up inside. But it's been a year now since it happened, and her family can't handle her quirky behaviors and emotional disconnect anymore. When Mom boots her from the family apartment, it seems her only choice is to move back into single-student housing and attend the ward that (funny thing) her drill-sergeant boss happens to preside over. Add in Bob, the divorced single parent who Abish accidentally walked in on in her underwear when he was trying to fix her Internet (and who also happens to be the executive secretary), and Abish is sure it's all some cosmic joke. Question is, will she be able to land on her feet, or is she going to allow her world to continue to fall apart until she has nobody left? See the book trailer by clicking here.
If you'd like to know more about Sarah Dunster, you can visit her blog here ... but I had a few questions of my own, which she was more than kind to answer.
Q. Do you have a favorite writing snack?
A. Probably stuff to drink, like hot cocoa. Or gummy things.
Q. (pausing to hide my cocoa and gummy things) If you could meet any author from the past, who would you choose?
A. Jane Austen. Maybe also Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Q. Good choices both! And now for the real question - do you have any unusual talents or skills?
A. I can write with my toes! But I don't write my books with my toes, I promise.
Okay, now are you ready to enter to win a free copy of Mile 21? As a man who's read this book, may I say it is excellent. But I don't see me carrying it on a train. Why don't publishers give books two covers if they think one needs a big pink rose?
Just wrap it in a brown paper bag ...
The alternative was a pair of orange running shoes. I should have gone for that...
I liked the trailer! Sounds like a good book. I think I'll go,get some hot cocoa now!
