We are now halfway through the month and halfway through our celebration. So today's prize is a little larger, a milestone as it were. Ali Cross is donating three e-books, one each of her Desolation series - Become, Desolate, and Destined. These are cool YA paranormal books with a unique voice that could only be Ali. Click here to learn more about them.
Sixteen-year old Desolation Black wants nothing more than to stay in Hell where it’s cold and lonely and totally predictable. Instead, she’s sent back to Earth where she must face the evil she despises and the good she always feared.
When Desi is forced to embrace her inner demon, she assumes her choice has been made—that she has no hope of being anything other than what her father, Lucifer, has created her to be. What she doesn’t count on, is finding a reason to change—something she’s never had before—a friend.
It’s been two months since sixteen-year-old Desolation Black chose Earth over Hell and her friend Miri over her eternal love, Michael.
Desi goes through the motions of life: school, training, remaining vigilant against the forces of darkness, but her dreams are full of the choices she wishes she could change. When she’s injured by a strange demon, old temptations arise, and the lines between good and evil blur. Desi discovers those choices aren’t so final after all.
And this time, the power of love—for a friend, for a lover—may not be enough to save her from the darkness that lurks within.
Choosing is a bad idea, because Desi always makes the wrong choice, and sometimes there are no do-overs. Certainly not this time, when all has been lost and Desi can’t even save herself, let alone her friends. For Desi, the hardest thing is letting someone help her, to accept their sacrifice on her\behalf. But that’s exactly what she’ll have to do in order to save the worlds from Helena’s destruction.
The goddess of Helheimer, long imprisoned by Desi’s father, Loki, is free at last, and she’s bent on reclaiming what once was hers. The nine worlds will be drawn into war, over Hell, over Earth, with innocent humans as meaningless collateral.
While Michael and the Gardians of Asgard, along with the golden-armored Valkyrie, lead the battle for freedom, it’s Desi who holds the destiny of all the worlds in her hands.
Can she set aside her doubts, once and for all, and claim the gifts that are hers to bear? Can she accept the sacrifice that is made for her and Become all that she was created to be?
Her final choice will define not only her future, but the fate of humankind, forever more.
Ali is donating two sets to this contest, so these ebooks are also part of our grand prize package. Thanks, Ali!
So after the release of Hang 'Em High, it was time to turn my attention to a new Secret Sisters Mystery, the one that is actually my personal favorite of the series. This one is called Targets in Ties, and it's set in Mexico. I wasn't sure at first where the book would take place, but I held a contest on my blog and asked people for suggestions, and Rachelle Christensen won the drawing. Her choice of Mexico worked out into a fantastic story ... if I do say so myself.

LDS Cozy Mystery
After two long years, Ren's mission is finally over, and it's time for Ida Mae, Arlette, and Tansy to travel to Mexico to pick him up. They have their itinerary all planned out visiting the ruins in the Yucatan, shopping, playing in the sand and surf and then they'll head to Ren's mission home and be reunited with that dear boy. But a wanted antiquities thief crosses their path, and soon the ladies find themselves tangled up in a web of lies, intrigue, and costly jewelry. Held hostage by men desperate for riches, they do what only they can do - keep their heads about them, plan their escape, and discuss the proper making of tortillas. Will they survive their most harrowing adventure yet?
You can purchase Targets in Ties at Amazon.com.
I think I like this one best because I take the ladies out of the country and put them in entirely different surroundings, and they still are who they are. In addition, the mystery is more complex and the stakes are higher. There's more actual danger in this book than my others. Still nothing to give you nightmares, though.
All righty!! Leave your comments on this trail to be entered to win Ali's trilogy, and we'll see you back here tomorrow!
