Bucket List Blog Festival

Today I’m participating in a bucket list blog hop sponsored by Swim - Write - Run.  We've each been asked to post our list of things we’d like to do before we kick the bucket.  This was a fun list to construct - it got me thinking.

1.        I got to go to Russia when I was 15, and I’d love the chance to go back there.

2.       I’d love to travel all over Europe and see the castles of England, Germany, and Switzerland.

3.       I want to take singing lessons.

4.       I want to hit #1 on the bestseller’s list for my regional market with my novels and stay there consistently.

5.       Don’t laugh – I want to learn how to milk a cow.  Don’t laugh again – I also want to learn how to ride a horse.

You know, I’ve come to a realization while making this list.  I’m already pretty content with my life.  I’ve had opportunities to do some amazing things, I have a fantastic husband and awesome kids, and I have my dream career – okay, it’s still fledgling, but it’s growing all the time.  Right now I have the seeds for the things I most really, really want in life.  The other dreams I have are all a lot of fun, but the most important ones are in some way already in progress, and I feel so blessed because of that.  I think I need to remember that whenever I start to feel grumpy about the things I don’t have or the ways I wish things were different.

What about you?  What are some things on your bucket list, and what are some dreams you have that have already come true?

You crack me up. Sounds like a field trip to a farm is in order. We'll find one on our way to the cowboy bar in Wyoming. Love the list.

I would love to learn to milk a cow- honestly. What a great skill. we just have to find some dairy farmers and introduce ourselves!

KO - we could totally go introduce ourselves to dairy farmers - they're very friendly people, from what I understand! :)

Nichole - one of these days, we're going to have to load up in a van and just hit the road!

Great to meet you, Teralyn!

Mo - reflection rocks! Thanks for inspiring it!

Gina - how about singing while traveling? I think multi-tasking is awesome!

Oooh, one of the things I forgot about on my list was having a horse. I never got over wanting a pony as a little girl. My dad took my Girl Scout troop on a western camp out when I was a kid - we got to ride horses out to the campsite. BEST camping trip EVER!

You should do it - it's a wonderful experience!

I've been seeing this all over. I must be a pessimist or a realist or something because I'm really having a hard time coming up with things.

Congratulations on accomplishing your goals! The rest will follow soon! Horse-riding is fun! Try the local riding school. :)

Oh, Russia! I had an opportunity to go to the Soviet Union in high school, but couldn't afford it. Later, I found out my grandmother would have paid for it - she loved to travel! Ah well. So I missed my chance then, but I would love to visit now.

If you're ever in Davis County on a Sunday night, my Tab Choir hub. does a free singing class. Free I say! Hymns, vocal exercises, and fun.

I want to learn how to milk a cow too, and I'd like some more formal horseback riding lessons. Call it research. :)

It's great to see other people who are content and happy with their life. ;) I want to do so much, but at the end of the day, I am so grateful for what I have.

And I totally want to learn to ride a horse, but gosh are lessons expensive!

I am finally doing one of the things on my list--I started piano lessons a few weeks ago. I guess this middle-aged gal can learn a few new tricks!

Tristi, I get to meet you at the LDStorymakers Boot Camp. So excited! I live on a dairy in Idaho--come on up and milk a cow! No horses, though, but I know where some live--and their owners. :)

Come to my house. You can milk a cow, ride a horse, take care of goats . . . Oh, you didn't mention goats, but I'd let you do that as an extra bonus.
