Happy Pioneer Day!

In honor of Pioneer Day, I'd like to direct your attention over to my new blog, "Blessed Honored Pioneers," which I started to commemorate the Hole in the Rock pioneers. And if you have any cool pioneer ancestors you'd like to brag about, please leave a comment in this trail so we can all read about them.

I'm a convert. My husband's a convert. But his great-great-great grandmother joined the church in Kirtland, walked to Utah, helped settle Payson--the whole shot.

Her daughter (DH's gg grandmother), when told to get in the wagon, said no, she wasn't going to be a Mormon. Instead, she walked barefoot to Oberlin College, married a Congregationalist minister, and founded a long line of Congregationalist ministers, who honor their blessed, honored pioneer foremother for her courage not to join the silly Mormons.

Go figure!

Lee Ann, that is an awesome story! Two sets of pioneer ancestors, walking across the plains to join two different churches. Shows a lot of faith and courage runs in that bloodline. :)
