American Idol Smackdown

My esteemed colleague, Robison Wells, has thrown down the gauntlet. Every year he keeps a running commentary on the American Idol performances and makes predictions on how the votes will go, and he's pretty good. He predicted Jordan Sparks' win last year weeks before it happened -- that's impressive.

However, he's choosing to disagree with the selection of Michael Johns as my #1 choice. Now, my favorites list isn't about who I think will win; rather, it's about who I like, which is totally different. Yet, the gauntlet has been thrown.

You're on, Mr. Wells! Each week I'll blog my opinions right after the show and we'll see how they stack up to your predictions. I can take the heat!

Tristi Pinkston, you're toast.

I also hereby challenge you to give predictions as well as opinions. Refusing to predict = chicken.

Who are you calling a chicken? You're on!

I'm going to have to disagree, David H needed to be the one to leave last night, so American did get it right. And next week, well I can only hope that the American public realize that Amanda just does not have what it takes musically to become an American Idol - I keep trying to see myself listening to her music on the radio or buying a CD put out by her and it's just a no go... it's her style, her voice, everything about her that I just can't handle.

Of course my golden boy is David Archuletta and my vote is on him for the win. I believe he has the vocal talent and can win season 7 all the way.

P.S. I noticed that we share the same birthday! Happy belated birthday! :)

SMH, I knew David H would have to go soon, but wow, Kristy's twang was just enough to make me cringe. :) Amanda is good for what she does but it all sounds the same to me. And David A. is just a total cutey, that's all there is to it!

I think the very best usually come in 3rd -5th place, which actually gives them more freedom after the show.

I totally agree with David H. going home...I was not impressed with all the media about his gay club stripping days and I don't want that kind of persona as my American Idol. But yes, if Kristy can't redeem herself next week she should be next to go.

I haven't caught the entertainment news, so this is the first I've heard about the gay stripper. I knew Danny was gay (I mean, who didn't?) but I didn't know David H's colorful history. Interesting.

Michael Johns is one of my favorites too! David Archuletta and Brooke White are my others. As long as one of them wins top honors, I'm good. Michael has the maturity, calm manner and killer voice. David has an astounding set of pipes with a smile so sweet you just wanna grab hold and give him a huge hug. And Brooke, wow . . . she's got a great voice, different from all the screeching divas of the past, but I love her conviction, strength and the way she has taken David under her wing.
