American Idol . . . I Know Nothing . . .

We had the Pinewood Derby in our ward tonight and I didn't see any of the performances save one -- we got home just in time to see David Cook. Has that guy got guts or what? We also saw the recap, and I must say, I'm not so sure about Brooke this week. Odd choice of song and way to sing it. Beyond those insufficient comments, I am powerless to say more, having missed the show. But, it's my church calling, and I had a son competing, and what am I supposed to do???

Get a DVR. *wink* *wink* Or get a friend named Jen who has it on her DVR and hasn't watched it yet, and watch it with her.

What are you supposed to do? You get TiVo, of course! Or at least shove a blank tape into the VCR.

I haven't seen yesterday's episode, either. I'll probably be watching it tonight.

TiVo brings me joy.

Hey Tristi,

Finally got hold of your first novel, "Nothing to Regret." I'm a slow reader so I only got through the first three chapters during my lunch break, but am having a real struggle putting it down. it's a real page turner. Great story. Well written. I hope you get national recognition for it. I think it should be a best-seller, even a movie. Not all novels hold me like that. I'll get your second one as soon as I finish this one. Can't wait.

I watched it and took notes. David Cook was amazing. Syesha was astonishingly good. I was very surprised. Michael Johns was great as well, better than the last couple of times. These three were definitely at the top last night.

Michael did a Queen song, which is really hard because Freddy Mercury was just such a voice. But Michael did it. I looked over at Megan and said, "I bet Tristi is having cat fits right now" because he was that good. And cute too.

Brooke and Ramiele were okay. Brooke was not as good as she had been in the past, but much better than last week. Carly was pretty good--better than the judges gave her credit for. And Kristy was surprisingly good. She sang "God Bless the USA" which if you can pull it off is going to make anyone sound good. This was the only performance where I actually liked her.

The others were passable. David Archeleta wasn't as good as he has been. Sang a weird song I've never heard. So far, he hasn't been able to match "Imagine."

Jason wasn't as good as usual either. As with David A., he hasn't been able to match his "Hallelujah" performance--which is too bad because that was just breathtaking.

My prediction: Kristy should go home, but her song last night may have bought her one more week. If she doesn't go tonight, I'm thinking it will be either Ramiele or Chikezi.

Simon said David Cook was courageous to sing that song. Why? Did I miss something?

Great recap, Karlene! And I was having cat fits, because I was nowhere near my television!

Rebecca, David was really brave to sing that song because it was an unusual arrangement. It was "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson, but it had been slowed down and made into a bluesy rock number. Really gutsy, but he pulled it off.

Paul, I'm glad you're enjoying the book! Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
