Happy Anniversary Day #8

Howdy, folks!

Today I have a fun interview with Cindy Hogan, who is donating our prize for today - a copy of each of her first two YA suspense novels. Cindy is releasing Created, her third YA, this week, so she consented to answering some interview questions for me.

Cindy, you are always so cheerful and optimistic. Were you just born that way, or did you make a choice to be that way? My dad is the most optimistic person I know and everyone says I got my optimism from him. He's my hero, so I can't imagine a better characteristic to inherit.

Where did you get the idea for your awesome teen series? I had this amazingly realistic dream about seven years ago and thought it would make a good movie. I wanted to give the idea to some big movie producer, but then, much to my surprise, I discovered I didn't know anyone in the business. I started to write the dream down because the characters wouldn't leave me alone. I blame my schizophrenia on that dream.

Is your new release the last book in the series? This is the last in this series, but my agent already has the first in the break-off series. I can't wait for you all to read it. It rocks!

What are you doing next? I'm working on book 2 and 3 in the next series and another book with a boy protagonist. It's a mystery and you'll love it.

This is a question I ask almost everyone I interview. Do you have any writing rituals you must go through in order to be able to write - music, a favorite snack, certain fuzzy socks? To write well, I have to go on a walk and brainstorm before I start writing. I get to do two things I love at once, walk and create a fabulous story.

Tell me something you have never revealed in any other interview ever - a Cindy exclusive. Hmmm. This is tough. I don't generally keep secrets, but, one thing I love to do in the winter is open the curtains and see where the sunspot falls on the carpet. I then grab a pillow and put my little body in that shaft of light and take a sweet nap. If you've never tried it, do. It's heavenly.

Hmmm ... that does sound heavenly. I just might have to try that.

Keep in mind that you can leave comments all day to be entered to win two books by Cindy. The drawing will take place tonight at midnight Utah time. To learn more about Cindy, click here.  To learn more about her books, click here.

Oh this was an awesome interview. Cindy is very cool. I love the idea of finding the sunspots. Unfortunately in my house (with three cats and a dog) any sunspots are already occupied. But sunshine is wonderful for nap-taking.
