Hang 'Em High Hoedown Day #1: Tower of Strength by Annette Lyon

Today's sponsor is Annette Lyon, author of many fabulous historical and contemporary novels, and the Whitney Award-winning author of Band of Sisters. She has donated a copy of her novel Tower of Strength for this contest.

About the book: It was 1877 when Tabitha Hall Chadwick left Manti as a young bride. Now, nearly seven years later, she returns as a widow with her young son to make a new beginning. Tabitha’s strained relationship with her mother-in-law adds more difficulty to her life as a single working mother. Yet with a stroke of courage, Tabitha makes two purchases that become her passions: the local newspaper business and a traumatized horse.

As she struggles to meet the challenges of her new roles, Tabitha welcomes the friendship of Samuel, a recently widowed British immigrant. Working together to train the abused horse, the two discover a second chance at love. But when Samuel is critically injured during the construction of the Manti Temple, Tabitha faces the pain of old wounds and the risk of new ones.

Weaving themes of loss and renewal, this poignant tale explores a vital choice each of us must make: to seek safety in isolation or to embrace the painful yet beautiful complexities of life and love..

If you would like to win this compelling LDS historical fiction novel, please do the following:

1. Become a follower of this blog by clicking on the box on the left titled "People Who Think I'm Cool." If you are already a follower, you obviously can skip this step.

2. Visit Annette's blog and become a follower over there.

3. Come back here and leave a comment on this post. Tell me that you're following me, you're following Annette, and tell me why you'd like to win Annette's book.

You have until tomorrow night, August 2nd, at midnight MST to enter. All entries will be uploaded to Random.org, and the winner will be notified via e-mail. If your e-mail is not visible on your Blogger profile, please include it in your comment so I can find you if you are the winner.

And don't forget to come back around tomorrow ... that's right! There's another prize appearing tomorrow, so don't miss out!

Quick Follow-up: I hadn't communicated clearly with Annette when we set this up, and I posted Tower of Strength here and she posted Band of Sisters on her blog. I'm sorry about the confusion - the winner will get to choose which of the two books they would like. Thanks, and thanks to Annette for putting up with me!

I've been to Annette's blog and I'm following you both. I want the book Band of Sisters (right?) because I just finished the kindle version of Lost Without You and read the opening chapters of Band of Sisters that came as a teaser at the end and I'd really like to read the book! (Plus I'm excited about yours and now want to read it and the previous ones, too!)

I'm a follower of you and Annette. I'd love to read her book because I've taken at least one if not more classes with her at conferences and have yet to read one of her books. I've enjoyed her so much that I can't believe I haven't done it yet! Thanks for the giveaway.

I've been a follower of both you and Annette for quite a while. In my survey of LDS fiction, I've only read ONE book (Kindle edition) of Annette's books so I'm way behind.

I've wanted to read Annette's books ever since reading Lost Without You. I always enjoy reading your books also. You both are such good writers, and draw me into the book right from the start. I stay up late at night just to finish the book, and want more at the end.
I'm a follower of both of you.

I thought for sure I was following you already, since I love Agent in Old Lace. I guess not, but I rectified that mistake. I'm also now following Annette Lyon, and I loved the book of hers that I read, Lost Without You. (I especially loved the part about the Scarlet Pimpernel!)

Tristi,

I'm following both your blog and Annette's. I recently read "Band of Sisters" and loved it. I wouldn't mind owning that book or the 4th temple book (the one with the horse in it!) I enjoy following your blog, your reviews, your thoughts on writing and editing, and your funnies!
