Author Interview: Marie Higgins

Today my special guest is Marie Higgins, who published two fun romances this last year with Walnut Springs Press.  Marie, thank you for taking the time to chat with me.
You are a very prolific writer.  How many books have you written and ready to go?
I honestly can’t believe I can write so fast and how easily ideas come. I wish I had more time to write, though. But to answer your question… I have exactly 46 stories on my computer right now waiting to be revised and edited. How many are ready to go? Only about four. My favorite saying is “So many stories…so little writing time.”
Wow.  46 is downright amazing! And I understand you have three coming out this year.  What are they called, and when will they be released?
My next story is titled Hearts Through Time. It should be released either February or March. (I’m thinking closer to March). This book is about a ghost from 1912 who needs help finding who murdered her, and the only person to help is a modern-day lawyer. This story is full of suspense, romance, and some humor! The next one will be a romantic comedy titled In Her Dreams. That should come out around June or July. My third one is going to be a sequel to my romantic comedy Winning Mr. Wrong…or it might be the sequel to my historical romance, Heart of A Hero. I haven’t decided yet (and neither has my publisher. lol) Its release date should be around August or September.

That’s awesome.  How do you write so fast?  Do you have hamsters on wheels attached to your hands?
(Looking at hands) So, that’s what those furry things are!! Seriously though, I wish I knew how I can write so fast. I’m a fast typist, but that really isn’t the reason. lol  I think I’ve trained my muse to work as much as it can when I’m not at my normal day job. I work for the state Mon-Thurs, ten-hour days. I live for my three-day weekends so I can write, and when there’s a state holiday in the month, that’s even better. I try not to waste my time when I’m not at work because I have so little to use for my stories.
Do you have a favorite outfit or style of outfit to wear while you're writing?
Not at all. I dress warmly in the winter and cool during the summer so that nothing stops me from writing. I probably take a lot of Ibuprofen to help with the back pain, too. I like my fuzzy slippers, though. Does that count?
Fuzzy slippers always count.  What other habits do you have while writing - do you listen to music or have a favorite snack at hand?
When I first started writing many moons ago, I listened to classical music. I think I did this because I love to sing along, and with classical, I couldn’t sing. J But I don’t listen to music at all now. In fact, the room must be completely quiet for me to concentrate on hearing what my characters want me to write about. As for snacks…I try not to eat while I’m at the computer. If I do, I’ll snack on Hershey’s Kisses with Almonds, but that doesn’t happen a lot.
I am so with you on that music thing … if there’s music playing, I have to sing along.  It’s impossible not to.
Thanks so much for joining me today, Marie, and congratulations on your new books coming out this year!  I can’t wait to read them.  I enjoyed your others very much.
