On Motherhood

I love being a mother. I love holding babies as soon as they're born, admiring how perfect and beautiful they are, seeing their personalities develop, watching them learn and grow.

However, there are certain . . .shall we say, aspects, of the job that don't suit me quite so well.

Take, for instance, the event of roughly ten minutes ago. I'm sitting here reading my e-mail, see, and my two-year-old comes up to me, making a sad little meowing sound in the back of his throat (he likes to pretend to be a kitty) and holding his hand out to me. His thumb was extended and upon that thumb was the object of his concern.

A great big snot booger.

Luckily for me, that same child had just taken an entire package of napkins and scattered them all over the living room floor, so I had plenty of ammunition at hand. I grabbed a napkin, removed the offending item, and returned to my e-mail.

However, there is balance in all things.

Less than two minutes after that, the child in question came up to me, tucked his dear little hand in mine, and said, "holding hands." Then he folded his arms and demonstrated how to say a prayer, starting with, "Hebenwy Fodder." It just doesn't get any better than that.

Kids truly do make life worth living.

Drop back by my blog today. I added an Addendum with all the links to those missing in action yesterday. Plus added a plug for Tristi's performance at the next Blogging Babe dinner.

It's surely doesn't. One of my favorites, too, is little arms that squeeze around my neck!!

Whenever I watch those shows like "A Baby Story", I cry everytime a baby comes out and is crying. There is just something SO special about birth, that first moment of life.

My kids are 3 and 1 and are the highlights of my life. My son calls them "boogies" and always makes sure I can wipe them off his finger. Like you, there is usually something that they've scattered around the house that I can use to wipe it off.

Being called Mother, is so special. Only a few people have the privilage of personaly calling you Mom. No one elts in the world can, and its saved for the ones we love the most. Mother is a special name, and comes with a long life time of work, as we give, some how we don't think about it.

Haha! How is it that children can wipe their boogers on you one minute, and make your heart explode with joy the next?

"Dear HeFarder pease bwess Mama an Daddy an Emee an Ben an noonles an sos in name Desus Cwis Amen"

nonnles and sos - noodles and sauce.

And oh yes, I agree with misty - those little arms squeezing as hard as they possibly can around your neck soooo sweetly. =)

*Happy Sigh* I just love being a Mama.

It doesn't get any better than that! What a precious child! Even with the mess he creates, obviously he's learned the important things already! You're an awesome Mom.
