League of Utah Writers Winners Announced!

The League of Utah Writers is the organization for authors in Utah. With members all over the state, it's a well-established, well-respected institution. Once a year they hold a contest for various different types of writing, from poetry to articles, full-length novels to short stories, fiction and nonfiction.

This year I entered an unpublished manuscript in the book length fiction category, and a copy of "Strength to Endure" in the published category.

They didn't have enough entries to hold the contest in the book length fiction division, but I found out just this morning that I won a certificate for "Strength to Endure!"

That is pretty stinkin' cool, if you ask me. I can now refer to myself as an "award-winning author." Yes, indeed, I like the sound of that . . .

GOOD FOR YOU! It's great that you get to network with other writers in that sort of gathering, as especially nice to be acknowledged by the certificate.

By the way, your first side bar link to the review on Nothing to Regret doen't work. I wanted to read it to compare my impressions of the book with what someone else had to say.

My husband is reading it now and then I will pass it on to others at Waters of Mormon.

Way to go, Tristi! That's great news!

Now you just need to Google "embossed gold stickers" and you can go update all of your books with your new title.

congratulations! that is so great! I think it's even MORE amazing that you are an award winning author with young children still at home. (I'm still trying to figure out how you manage it all.)

That's awesome Tristi! How much was the certificate for? Where for? (If you care to divulge). You certainly deserve it, and I don't doubt there will be many more rewards to come through the years as you continue to share your talent.

Thanks for the congrats, everyone -- I really have been so excited.

Mandi, the certificate was like a diploma rather than a gift certificate -- but hey, that would have been way cool, too!

Don, I like the sticker idea.
