Heading in to Week 2 -- BIAM Monday

Here we go, guys -- did you all have a restful Sunday? I tried, I really did, but I couldn't go to sleep until nearly 4:30 this morning and then my two-year-old woke me up by playing the harmonica. (Karlene, you know of which harmonica I speak.) My hubby put me down for a nap this afternoon, which was sorely needed.

However, I've had a nice mental break and I'm ready to hit writing again in the morning. Or afternoon, or night -- whenever it actually happens.

To get us all thinking about writing and ways to get it done, I invite you to scroll down my sidebar until you get to "labels," and click on "writing tips." I've written several blogs on the basics of writing and you can find them all there.

I need to spend some time thinking things through before I sit down to write tomorrow. I've got all my conflict scenes going great, but I need to figure out the best way to link them all together. I'm probably going to do a lot of skipping around, writing here and there rather than in order, and then go back to fill in. There's nothing wrong with that at all -- I always maintain that you should write the scene you're really in the mood to write at that moment before the passion is lost out of it.

So keep plugging away, everyone! I'm excited to see what wonderful stuff we come up with this week.

To quote Spongebob: "I'm ready! I'm ready" ad noseum.

I couldn't agree more with you on writing while the scene is fresh in your mind.

I think when you get your BIAM book published one day we'll all feel extra special about it because we were sort of a part of it with you. Fun for us!

I can't wait to get writing tomorrow!

I'm glad to read you got a bit of rest. Sounds like you have a great hubby who supports you in all your endeavors. {including sleep}

I just wanted to thank you for all the support, information, kind words and amazing writing that you freely share! I'm blessed to have found your blog. :)

I agree with you Tristi- that wherever your desire for writing is at the moment...go for it. You can always 'fill in' later. It works out very well for me.

Thanks for your kind thoughts, Ajoy -- I appreciate them.

Ali -- why "my WIP?" Why not yours? Maybe we'll all be sitting here marveling that we had something to do with yours!

Week 2, Day 1:
45 minutes
1,316 words
7,090 total

What? Write scenes out of order? Hang on - I think Ponopono's having some kind of seizure...

I could probably benefit from writing the scene that's fresh in my mind, rather than re-writing the first fifteen chapters over and over.

But tell me please, oh wise and experienced writers, how do you keep everything straight when writing out of order? Different files? Place holders? Crossed fingers?

An idea this radical is going to require a plan.

Okay: houseguests are gone, baby shower is over, RS lesson is taught. I'm ready to get going now.

My WIP currently sits at 6,812 words. My goal is 6,000 words per week, or 1,000 words per day, excepting Sundays. SO looking forward to doing this with everyone!

Not sure which post I'm supposed to respond with my word count...but for Monday my count is 579 words.

It's progress! Thanks for getting us all going here, Tristi!
