I Hope They Call Her on a Mission (but she's not going to grow a foot or two)

Thanks for your enthusiastic response to my announcement of my mom's mission call! You've asked for a little more information, so I'll dish.

She's going to serve in the Catania mission, which encompasses Sicily and the most southern part of the boot and heel of Italy.

Catania looks like a gorgeous place -- check this out:

She's serving an 18-month mission, and they're having her learn Italian at home. They're providing the materials and she'll be in contact with the Missionary Training Center to keep her on track with what she needs to be learning.

We're all so excited about this -- she's going to have the time of her life. It will be a little strange, though. She's been an integral part of my children's lives and it will be odd not to have her around for all the birthdays and other holidays, but we're thrilled that she has this chance.

Wow...that sounds amazing! One of my favourite bloggers lives in Italy, and her blog is chock full of gorgeous pictures, and different aspects of culture and cuisine of there:

Exciting stuff! Yeah, it's tough not having Grandma around (we're going on three years, and it'll be two more before my globe-trotting missionary parents return), but at the same time, we've gotten some blessings along the way. Hope she has a great mission!

Any chance you guys can swing a trip to Italy while she's there? That would be a wonderful experience for everyone! She'll have some great stories and photos to share - maybe in a blog!?

I would love to swing a visit while she's over there!! Airfare being what it is, though . . . But yes, she's planning to take scads of pictures and to stay in really good touch.

Hi -- My son was just called to the Catania, Italy Mission, he goes into the MTC on Oct 24th. I did a google search to find out more about Catania and your blog came up so I thought I'd say "hi" Maybe my son will serve in the same area as your mother. I'm going to start saving now so I can go to Italy at the end of his mission.

Cheers, KyneWynn
