How do you decide which LDS books you are going to review? Who sends them to you? Is it the author or publisher?
Most of the books I review just come off the library bookshelf. I have received books from authors/publishers for the purpose of review, but I have a caveat with that -- if the book comes out of the author's pocket, I won't accept it. Publishers have an advertising budget and they allow a certain number of copies to be sent to review. If your publisher will foot the bill to send me the book, I'd be more than happy to review it.
Now, to go along with that first caveat, I offer another one -- I do my best to make sure that my reviews are balanced. I love the LDS market and will do all I can to promote it, but I will be as impartial with an LDS book as I would with a nationally published book. That's the only way to maintain integrity in what I do.
