I hate it when I have a smart alek kid be rude. It's one of the reasons I enjoy being a mystery shopper!!G. If you're ever out this way, let me know and I'll hook you up. :D Scratch donuts are WAYYYY better than the frozen kind.Karen E. Now I shop at stores that have no customer service for the sake of keeping prices low. I always tell my husband I would rather pay a little more and be treated well. Let's start a revolution to bring back good old-fashioned customer service.Stephanie Humphreyshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13553998075443712084noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31281717.post-77390786294099282372007-07-24T18:58:00.000-07:002007-07-24T18:58:00.000-07:00You make donuts, Karen? I asked to see her manager and told him what a fabulous job she had done and that I appreciated her dedication to doing her tasks politely and efficiently. It shocked her out of her gourd. She recovered quickly, though, and said, "So, do I get a raise?"

You go, girl!!

Now, Karen, about those donuts . . .Tristi Pinkstonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12122250747480013804noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31281717.post-62325038235584409222007-07-24T18:48:00.000-07:002007-07-24T18:48:00.000-07:00I'm in full agreement, Tristi, and have noticed mu...I'm in full agreement, Tristi, and have noticed much the same thing. I still work in the food industry (bakery) and wouldn't even THINK of treating people the way so many do around me. Happy customers come back. Unhappy ones don't.

I've also noticed a distinct lack of pride in a job well done. For some reason, very few people seem to care about what they're doing anymore. Every day I work, one of the bakers comments on how happy they are I'm decorating donuts that day. They are very emphatic on praising me up to the manager because I take the time to make things look NICE. So it takes me a little longer. Isn't it worth it to have something appealing? I think so, and they agree, even to the point of hammering that into the head of my manager when he praises the others for their speed.

Not to toot my own horn or anything, but it's nice to be appreciated when you try hard to do a good job.Karen E. And if they don't know what you are talking about it is always better for that employee to say something like, "I'm not sure what you are talking about, but let me find out", kind of thing.

I sometimes wonder if the increase in rudeness has anything to do with the "get them through the line ASAP" kind of philosophy. I don't mind that philosophy as long as it doesn't interfere with treating your customer--like a customer. They're the reason the business stays in business!Shanna Blythehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17644888411456648463noreply@blogger.com
